Want to surprise your students with an awesome brainstorming session? Next time your students need to come up with ideas, after presenting the challenge/question, ask them to come up with the most terrible ideas they can think of. Instruct them to think about the most shocking ideas which will never work. Encourage them to take it to the extreme. You will see your students setting their imagination free and having fun with coming up with one terrible idea after the other. Ask them to write down all their ideas. Once your students exhausted their creative thinking (Or more likely, you got to the end of the time allocated for this task) go over each one of the ideas, with your students, and get to the core concept of each idea. Then explore together how you can take each concept and turn it into a great idea.
